MEET ERICA
WRITER | EDITOR | TRAVELER
I’m a longtime lifestyle writer and editor with expertise in both print and digital storytelling. In my 15 years of experience I’ve been lucky enough to cover amazing trips, interview celebrities, review literature, profile philanthropists, capture amazing events, and discover the latest in tech and innovation. Most recently, I oversaw lifestyle and service coverage for the award-winning Philadelphia magazine as Deputy Editor, Lifestyle. Prior to that, I was Managing Editor for Travel Leaders Group, the largest travel agency company in North America, managing and editing publications including Andrew Harper Travel’s Traveler magazine, Destination Bliss, and Postcards. My freelance journalism work includes reviewing hotels for The Telegraph's robust travel section (reaching 20 million readers a month) and Oyster.com, covering tech news and profiling startup founders for DC Inno, writing travel content for Google, editing home and design content for The Spruce, and contributing lifestyle articles to outlets including Capitol File Magazine, Upscale Living Magazine and Potomac Lifestyle.
I began my career in Multimedia Entertainment News for WUSA9's morning show, a fast-paced and deadline-driven role that led to a four-plus year position as Events & Society Reporter for Bisnow Media's The Scene Bisnow. I joined the staff of Washington Life Magazine, DC's premier luxury lifestyle publication, in 2014. There, my accomplishments include launching a successful book column, helping to increase the magazine's social media following by more than 25% and tripling the monthly output of web articles.
My love of writing stems from my love of literature. I hold an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Antioch University Los Angeles, where I focused on social justice storytelling. I have a BA in English (cum laude) from Tulane University. I’ve also studied literature at New York University and Trinity College Dublin. My love of literature is also evident in my volunteer experience; I have worked to champion new authors and promote reading as Creative Nonfiction Editor of The Citron Review literary journal, editor for the Washington Independent Review of Books, and as a member of the Ardmore Free Library's Board of Trustees.
When I am not reading or writing, my other interests include fashion, food, travel, theater and film, dogs, and vintage shopping.
